Racism
In the false name of removing "DEI" the Trump administration has been targeting and removing references to any accomplisments by people who are not white. They are attempting to prop up white supremacy by trying to erase contrary evidence.
Navy set to rename ships
“Secretary Hegseth is committed to ensuring that the names attached to all DOD installations and assets are reflective of the Commander-in-Chief’s priorities, our nation’s history, and the warrior ethos,” Sean Parnell, the chief Pentagon spokesperson, said in a statement. “Any potential renaming(s) will be announced after internal reviews are complete.”

The other ships in the class are the USNS Thurgood Marshall, USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg, USNS Harriet Tubman, USNS Cesar Chavez, USNS Medgar Evers, USNS Dolores Huerta and the USNS Lucy Stone.

The planned erasure of barrier-shattering historical figures from the vessels is just the latest move in Hegseth’s mission to stamp out any trace of diversity... in the Defense Department. (politico.com)

The media can (and should) reject the Right's deceptive frame. This is not about "references to diversity, equity, and inclusion."

It is a neosegregationist attempt to erase everyone but white males from the nation's history.

Judge calls NIH cuts illegal and discriminatory
After ruling the NIH grant cuts were illegal yesterday, Judge Young, a Reagan appointee on the bench since 1985, ended the hearing with a blistering 15-minute speech. I've cleaned up my notes — here are his remarks in full:

(Note that recordings are not allowed in federal court, so this was all derived from fast typing and is subject to typos/limitations of the Zoom audio. A court transcript will follow.)

YOUNG: "There's another aspect of this case — a darker aspect. One that I take very seriously. And it’s this:

I could not — I cannot as a United States district judge read this record without coming to the conclusion — and I am hesitant to draw this conclusion. But I have an unflinching obligation to draw it. That this represents racial discrimination. And discrimination against America's LGBTQ community. That's what this is. I would be blind not to call it out. My duty is to call it out. And I do so.

Now clearly I have no hesitancy in enjoining racial discrimination. I said during the course of the argument, and it is the law, and I must uphold it. And I have no hesitancy in upholding it. The extirpation of affirmative action is a legitimate government policy. It is *not* a license to discriminate on the basis of color. It simply is not. That's what the Civil War Amendments are about. Any discrimination by our government is wrong that it requires the court to enjoin it. And at the appropriate time, I'm gonna do it. Having said that, I welcome, if the parties wish, though I don't require any extension of the record, evidence as to harm so that I may more carefully and accurately frame such an injunction.

It is palpably clear that these directives and the set of terminated grants here are also designed to frustrate — to stop — research that might bear on the health — we’re talking about health here — the health of Americans. Of our LGBTQ community. That's a problem. Having said it, I have very real questions about whether this court has the power to enjoin them. I do not assert such a power though I find the record will be clear to anyone that it has and is occurring under what's going on. Now, I'm speaking only of health care.

I'm speaking only of the parties before me. Nothing else. I don't have a record as to that. It's not the province of this court just to invade against discrimination. But on this record, these two aspects of discrimination are so clear that I would fail in my duty if I did not note. The parties are invited as to those two aspects and — but I make no finding with respect to it — any harm to issues about women’s health.

Gender differences are an appropriate area of research trying to advance the frontiers of science so all Americans have the best health care that we can afford. ...But let me say something about racism. I've never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable. I've sat on this bench now for 40 years. I've never seen government racial discrimination like this.

And I ask myself, ‘How can this be?’ Because on this record anyway, I don't see anyone pushing back against it. Take a look at the people who have been named as defendants here. One of them is a cabinet-level officer. The other is not the same individual, but is now the director of the National Institutes of Health. They are people whose profession has been devoted to the American people and to our society. All our society. They are all American citizens.

Now, I don't claim any high moral ground here. I'm a United States district judge. I have the protections that the founders wrote into the Constitution. Along with imposing upon me a duty to speak the truth in every case, and I try to do that. And so I've asked myself. What if I didn't have those protections? What if my job was on the line? My profession. All a career to which I have devoted whatever poor skill I have. Would I have stood up against all this? Would I have said, ‘you can't do this? You are bearing down on people of color because of their color. The Constitution will not permit that.’

I see nothing in this record. And when I ask myself that question without the protections of an independent judiciary, so necessary for our society, as I know my own part, I do not have an answer to that question for myself. But is it true of our society as a whole? Have we fallen so low? Have we no shame?" (nature.com)

NPR has identified three Trump officials with close ties to antisemitic extremists, including a man described by federal prosecutors as a "Nazi sympathizer," and a prominent Holocaust denier.

Trump declares intention to openly break Congressionally-enacted law in order to honor white supremacy
President Trump, during a speech at Fort Bragg, N.C., said on Tuesday that he would restore the names of all Army bases that were named for Confederate generals but were ordered changed by Congress in the waning days of his first administration.

His move skirts the law mandating the removal of Confederate symbols from the military through the same maneuver used to restore the name of Fort Bragg, which was briefly renamed Fort Liberty. In a statement, the Army said it would “take immediate action” to restore the old names of the bases originally honoring Confederates, but the base names would instead honor other American soldiers with similar names and initials.

For example, Fort Eisenhower in Georgia, honoring President Dwight D. Eisenhower — who led the D-Day landings during World War II — would revert to the name Fort Gordon, once honoring John Brown Gordon, the Confederate slave owner and suspected Ku Klux Klan member. (nytimes.com)

Acyn (acyn.bsky.social): Baier: What's the biggest thing that keeps you up at night?

Musk: The birth rate is very low in almost every country. And unless that changes, civilization will disappear. America had the lowest birth rate [Includes Video]

The fact Trump created a special refugee/asylum status for (white) Afrikaners has been widely reported. This is the first reporting I've seen abt just how much we're doing/spending to essentially recruit Afrikaners to resettle in the US www.nytimes.com/2025/03/30/u...

Trump officials start dismantling civil rights offices, as part of DOGE's secret plan
Agencies across the federal government are dismantling offices that enforce civil rights and antidiscrimination laws under a Trump administration push to shrink the workforce, weakening the government's ability to deliver on legal obligations to protect workers' rights.
Trump is merrily ending civil rights protections for everyone
But in MAGA world, this has metastasized into simply killing off all civil rights protections of all kinds.¹ Conservatives no longer want to admit even "yes, but" about racism. Instead, they want to flatly deny that women and minority groups suffer any possible discrimination at all. The result is the decimation of civil rights and EEO offices even though the relevant laws are still on the books
Companies free to segregate
The Trump administration cut a clause from federal contracting rules that had been on the books since the 1960s: Companies are no longer explicitly prohibited from having segregated facilities

Vileness has no stigma
The "vibe shift" is not necessarily that more people on the right are antisemites compared to eight years ago, but that much of the right now appears to reject the basic notion that there should be any stigma against even the vilest bigotry.

Diversity and Fairness erased
The word "diversity" itself, and "fairness" are too dangerous to survive, painted over to avoid offending the new administration. ("Leadership", "compassion" and "integrity" are also no longer welcome at the FBI).

Elon empowers hate
L O L G O P (@lolgop.bsky.social?): Elon destroyed 50-80% of the value of Twitter, but when Republicans call it a model, what they mean is this below and how it helped elect Trump, which this below also helped with.

X under Musk's leadership: Substantial hate and no reduction in inauthentic activity. Hickey et al. (2025)

"We find that the increase in hate speech just before Musk bought X persisted until at least May of 2023...across multiple dimensions of hate."

'Everyone is Welcome' deemed too controversial
Idaho teacher ordered to remove signs saying "Everyone Is Welcome Here!"

School district lawyer said because the hands pictured were different skin tones, "not everyone would agree they are welcome."

Adding, "In today's political environment, it's considered a personal opinion ."

The West Ada School Board voted that her signs violate the policy requiring "classroom content to be neutral."

Sarah Imana has taught world civilization to 6th graders at Lewis and Clark Middle School for 4 years without having any parent complain about her signs.

She is currently fighting the school district–refusing to take down her welcome signs.

"I would literally take a bullet for my kids," she said.

Black, highly-qualified military leaders replaced by lesser qualified white general
Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story.

Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver.

This is what "merit" means to them.
CNN (cnn.com): In an unprecedented purge of the military's senior leadership, President Donald Trump fired the top US general just moments before his defense secretary fired the chief of the US Navy and the vice chief of the Air Force.
